I decided to enroll in one of the voluntary training programs: the Specialized Operator Seedbed. That led to a new job as a specialized operator on automatic presses.
Next, I raised my hand to join the Technical Development Center. I’m now part of a new generation of toolmakers. I achieved the highest academic average among my peers and was recognized by the Mexican-German Chamber of Commerce as a national finalist in the toolmaking program. Today, I’m a technician/toolmaker at the division, with five promotions in seven years.
My greatest dream has been to attend university. This dream is coming true, too. With the help of a Magna scholarship, I am pursuing a degree in industrial engineering at a local University. I continue to work full time and attend classes on Saturdays.
Most importantly, I’m able to support my mother and other members of my extended family. She now gets the therapies she needs and has a better quality of life. There is no need for her to clean houses to earn her daily bread.
I continue to look for what’s next. I want to keep growing in my career. I would love to visit other Magna facilities around the world. I even have a secret educational dream: I would like to study philosophy. After reflecting on my journey, I’ve discovered something important: behind every door of pain and hardship, there is also another door that opens to new opportunities.
