Magna's eDS Duo 

The eDS Duo recently launched on the all-new electric model of Mercedes-Benz’s iconic off-roader, underlining a long-term partnership with Magna.

A 2-speed, dual e-motor drive providing up to 240 kW, the eDS Duo offers leading traction and off-road capabilities, including a unique wheel-individual propulsion system that enables features like the "G-Turn," allowing the vehicle to rotate 360 degrees in place. With optimized efficiency and advanced silicon carbide and decoupling technology, the eDS Duo delivers exceptional performance while maintaining high efficiency.

eDrive System Low

eDS mid

eDrive System Mid

  • 120-150 kW primary or secondary electric drive for BEV / (P)HEV
  • Optional park lock, torque vectoring, and decoupling systems
eDrive System eDS High

eDrive System High

  • 250 kW high-voltage electric drive system with highest efficiency for BEVs
  • Industry-first ability to rotate around its drive axis for ease of integration
  • Lower HRE (heavy rare earth) content compared to previous generations

eDecoupling

  • Magna’s electromagnetic eDecoupling acts as a stand alone or integrated power flow decoupler for EV applications
  • Enhance EV range by reducing drag torque of the e-motor and gearbox in primary and secondary eDrive systems
