Eco Family Gearsets

The Eco Family: a product for every hybrid application

The base transmission of the Eco family is a 6-speed dual-clutch-transmission (DCT). The gear set consists of 4 mechanical gears and 2 ‘virtual’ gears. These virtual gears, the 1st and 6th gear, are formed via a bridge. This design makes the transmission extremely compact and lightweight. The hybridized versions build on the same physical gear set. The HDT Eco is available in a 48V and three high-voltage versions.

With these four products, the whole range from base DCT to high voltage PHEV can be realized. The level of hybridization is a question of weighing cost, functionality, efficiency, specific market requirements, and vehicle type.

Dual-Clutch Transmisson DCT Eco:

Mild Hybrid - HDT Eco 48V:

  • Cost-efficient hybrid solution for applications with minimal electric driving needs
  • Primarily designed for functions like parking, maneuvering, and stop-and-go
  • Provides an economical and practical solution without extensive electric driving capabilities

Magna DHD Eco

HEV & PHEV - HDT Eco with 50 or 100-kW e-motor:

  • High-voltage HDT Eco with 50 or 100-kW e-motor for applications prioritizing electric driving functions and efficiency.
  • Demonstrates significant benefits in WLTP and real-world driving conditions with high dynamic loads.
  • Utilizes six gears to maintain the full traction force of the combustion engine.
  • P2.5 design and compact gearset allow for scalable electrification in a small and lightweight package.
  • Suitable for both HEV and PHEV applications.

PHEV - DHD Eco:

  • DHD Eco is a hybrid drive with a powerful e-motor as the main source of propulsion.
  • It does not require virtual 1st and 6th gears, as well as R.
  • Starts up electrically like a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV).
  • Designed to provide a driving experience similar to a BEV and is primarily meant for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) applications with a focus on electric driving.
