eDecoupling Animations
How it works:
eDecoupling reduces drag-losses in vehicles by disconnecting the differential, gearbox, and e-motor from the wheel axle when propulsion power is not needed. This helps improve the range of electric and hybrid vehicles by up to 9% by reducing the energy draw from the battery, especially in AWD and 4WD vehicles and BEV or hybrids with secondary axles.
How it supports 2WD and 4WD driving:
It can seamlessly switch from 2WD to 4WD when road conditions are unstable. Magna's eDecoupling, along with the predictive software package "Decoupling+", enhances vehicle performance by reducing slip and vehicle yaw on high-speed corners under slippery road conditions. By utilizing vehicle sensory inputs, it automatically engages 4WD power before the vehicle starts to slip.
